BEARD TRANSPLANT

What is a beard transplant?

A beard transplant is a surgical procedure designed to address facial hair growth concerns, particularly for individuals who have patchy or insufficient beard growth. During the procedure, hair follicles are taken from a donor area on the patient’s body, often the back of the scalp, and transplanted into the beard area. This process promotes the growth of new facial hair, resulting in a fuller and more even beard.

How is a beard transplant performed?

A beard transplant is typically performed using one of two primary techniques: Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) or Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT). In the FUE method, individual hair follicles are extracted from the donor area using a micro-punch tool, and these follicles are then carefully implanted into the beard area. In the FUT method, a strip of scalp containing hair follicles is harvested from the donor area, and the follicular units are dissected and transplanted to the beard area. Both methods require meticulous skill and precision to ensure natural-looking results.

When will I see results?

After a beard transplant, you can expect to see some initial growth within a few weeks to a few months. However, it’s important to note that the transplanted hairs will initially shed, which is a normal part of the process. This shedding is followed by a resting phase, after which the new hair follicles will start producing new, permanent hair growth. The full results of a beard transplant usually become evident around 6 to 12 months after the procedure, as the transplanted hairs gradually grow, thicken, and mature. Patience is key during this period, as it takes time for the final outcome to be visible.
